Duke Nukem Forever Review

Duke Nukem Forever Review: "

The hypocrisy of Duke Nukem Forever's distaste for new shooter heroes is clear early in the game. Duke is disgusted when offered a Halo-like suit of armor, asserting that his unassailable machismo is more resilient than any association with modernized entries of a genre he helped define in the mid-1...

Rift Review

Rift Review: "Rift is a dynamic MMORPG developed by Trion Worlds. Not only is this the studio's first MMO, but this is its first game. Rift is an ambitious project and has one goal; that is to be the best MMO out there. A feat that might be hard to do as they’re in a market dominated by World of Warcraft, where competitors need to do everything in their power to set themselves apart. Many MMOs have come and gone since Blizzard created the wonderful world of Azeroth – some failed miserably while others resorted to the free-to-play market.

Homefront Developer Kaos Shut Down by THQ

Homefront Developer Kaos Shut Down by THQ: "

Homefront

THQ has confirmed today that it's in the process of a 'strategic realignment' that will see two studios closed, one of which, Kaos Studios, was responsible for this year's Homefront.

The exact number of people who will be affected is unclear. Some will be given the opportunity to move to THQ Montreal (a studio that has allegedly been poaching talent from Ubisoft), while others will be laid off. This likely didn't come as a complete shock; there were concerns voiced back in January from Kaos staffers who thought they would be faced with a move to Montreal or a pink slip before long.

Develop has gotten official word from THQ on the closure of not only Kaos, but U.K.-based developer THQ Digital Warrington. THQ said this is a 'strategic realignment within its internal studio structure and [it] is in the process of closing two locations: the company's U.K. studio and Kaos studio in New York.'

New PSone remake is on the to-do list.

Kojima Productions wants to remake the first Metal Gear Solid title in full HD, so says the studio's creative producer Yoshikazu Matsuhana.

Speaking with Eurogamer at E3 in Los Angeles this week, Matsuhana explained that the studio had decided against including the 1998 PSone classic in the forthcoming Metal Gear Solid HD Collection as both its gameplay and visuals are just too dated.

'Obviously, we wanted to include it and make it a complete collection. However, as you know, Metal Gear Solid 1 was for the PSone. It has a very, very low polygon count,' he explained.

Infamous 2 review

Infamous 2 review: "

If there's a great action game in Infamous 2, no one has built it yet.

Consider Cole MacGrath, the returning hero of Infamous, proof of what lies at the eye of a storm: nothing. He might look like actor Sam Worthington and sound like Batman, but to see him is almost to see through him. His eyes are permanently narrow, fixed on his next opponent or waypoint. His mouth is just a slit, source of little more than cynically devised canon. His head is shaved, his arms inked with high-street tattoos. His only magnetism is electrical.
